Finally, please tell us about your experience with this contractor:

Had Winton's come out to repair AC. They rewired from inside unit to the outside unit. They didnt do it correctly. They messed up connecting the wires. Had to have another company come out and fix their mistakes. I will never let them back in my house as Winton's serviceman are rude and unprofessional. When I asked the company for a partial refund they said it would never happen.

Did this contractor actually perform work for you? Yes

  • Type of Work Performed: defrosted the unit, said tehy put in 4 lbs of R22 and a Hard Start Booster kit.
  • Date of Work Performed: Yes
  • Amount Spent: $591 and they said tehy did not charge for labor.
  • Brand Purchased: Trane

Finally, please tell us about your experience with this contractor:

BIG RIP OFF! When they arrive, they arrive quickly, Hugh the salesman builds it up that he is going to take care of you. You give permission to do the work and then you are handed the bill. $70/lb for R22 Freon. $225 for a Hard start kit. I would love to know what other AC services pay or charge for these two items? Winton\'s say that the owner Laura Butler set the prices. Jennifer takes all the calls for her and you can NOT get through to her. Imagine an owner that will not talk to her own customers? When this company cold-calls you to do a FREE AC inspection, read all the reviews you can and then RUN with your pocket-book.

These people talk a great game, and seem very nice, very professional. But it is just a facade. This company re-negged on several appointments including the first one they COLD-CALLED ME to make. They ended up charging $803 just to clean the coils, telling us it was the cause of the excess condensation making it drip. He promised that once clean, it would only run better. Prior to this, it was cooling just fine, it was just dripping. He stated he and the other techs were not paid on commission and that they wouldn\\\'t want to install a new unit, since the current one was working just fine. After the second tech came out to perform the Coil Clean, our A/C worked round the clock just to get down to 82 degrees. I called them to report that it was performing worse than it was before the cleaning. They sent the second tech out again, who baffled as to what happened. He then concluded that he must have accidentally caused a leak in the freon line when he re-attatched the unit before. He claimed to have fixed this, but said that we had a sticky TXB valve. He said he was pretty sure he fixed that. Since it was cooling just fine before, I have to assume that the sticky valve was also caused by something he did. He said he fixed the valve though, and it should work better, but also stated that if it sticks again that we should get a new unit. Not paid on commission, eh? Better is a relative term. Our A/C still has to run most of the day just to get down to 78 degrees (we jumped for joy when it came down to 75 one overcast day.) Our Power Bill is still twice what it was before they repaired it. If something he did caused us to need a new unit, we\\\'ll replace it, all right. But we won\\\'t give Winton\\\'s another dime of our money to do so.

Responding for my senior citizen parents who were ripped off by this company. BEWARE, they charge for parts that are not installed and refuse to come out and service the crap they put in. It's a shame that a company will do this to our senior citizens. Here is you sign...NO WEBSITE and ads are run in weekly free papers that come in the mail.

Winton's overcharges by about twice what other dealers charge. Whenyou try to get answers, they never return phone calls.
