A Note From the Owner:
Rural Plumbing and Heating was incorporated in 1947 by W.B. and Mildred Nivison.
The Nivisons began their business with an understanding of their customers needs. In 1947, many homes in rural North Carolina were without modern conveniences. Few homes in these areas had heat except fireplaces and many were without indoor plumbing and bathroom facilities. Rural Plumbing and Heating began servicing these communities that spring. Originating in the basement of the Nivison’s home, Rural Plumbing and Heating began business with four trucks. The Nivison’s home was near the North Carolina coast and they worked throughout Eastern North Carolina. In 1962, Rural Plumbing and Heating moved into their current offices at 701 E Six Forks Road, near the downtown of Raleigh. Currently operating with over 100 service vehicles supported by a 20,000 square foot warehouse, the Nivison’s “basement” business continues to grow.
